In 2012 we purchased a small house on a 1/3 acre lot in the uptown area of Albuquerque with the goal of establishing an urban permaculture food forest and herb farm. On this property we now produce a variety of organic culinary herbs and flowers that we sell at local Grower's Markets and directly to individuals and restaurants. Our outdoor herbs are productive from April through October and we grow limited quantities all winter. In addition we have some medicinal herbs available to qualified practitioners and fragrant herbs and flowers.
The herbs we grow change with the season. Here you can find a description of the herbs, the season in which they grow and some information on their uses and preservation. If you would like something that is not listed here, please contact and we will try to grow it for you. Please be aware, however, that there are some herbs that are very difficult to grow in Albuquerque. For example, we have much better success with Mediterranean herbs than with British woodland plants.
In addition to growing the herbs we attempt to educate people on their uses. We enjoy flavoring our food with them and are always trying new combinations. On this page we include some of our favorite recipes. We welcome your comments on those you have tried.
Developing the herb garden, growing and selling the herbs leads to many adventures throughout the year. Check out our blog to find out what we are up to.
